Living with Loss

A memorable Presentation that I attended was very recently it was on April 1, 2023. I attended a session on grief. The event was called “Permission to Grieve Day” Azal Beene Lockett Foundation. I attended this event because it is what my company was founded on. My company is called “Living With Loss Let Them RIP”. Additionally, a chapter in my e-book called “Give them permission” piqued my interest.

The thing that made it interesting and successful was the topic. There were several memorable moments during the morning. The speakers were all very well-versed in the subject of grief and loss. Each speaker had lost a loved one. Each speaker had a different perspective.

There were two speakers that stood out to me the first was a man named Glen McIntosh who had lost his twin sister. This was extremely interesting to me because I have twin children. Glen said that he had never faced grief quite like the loss of his twin. Glen spoke about the connection of twinship.

The second speaker was Mayor Kelly Garrett who is the current Mayor of Lathrup Village Michigan. Mayor Garrett lost her only son. Her story resonated with me because the reason I founded “Living With Loss Let Them RIP” was because I lost my niece who was like a daughter. This was the most grief that I’ve ever experienced and I could relate to Mayor Garrett’s story. Mayor Garrett talked about her son’s daughter caused her to be angry at God and walk away from Him. She ended her story by sharing how her road to re-election caused her to campaign in churches and caused her hard to soften and find her way back to God.

The speakers were all engaging and not only did they have unique life-changing experiences they were caring and compassionate for all of the attendees who had questions for them.
